Classlist, the UK’s largest private social network for school parents, has purchased assets from Coo, the group chat and calendar app for parents, for an undisclosed amount.
The UK school education sector is growing strongly with both state and private school enrolments at record numbers – 8.6 million pupils across the country’s 29,000 schools. Working parents have less time to meet at the school gate, and find existing online social networks don’t offer suitable levels of privacy and security. Classlist’s app is trusted by school communities across the UK to connect parents, organise events, and buy, sell and recommend items in a safe, managed environment. Coo has developed chat
and calendar functions for the same audience. Classlist founders Susan and Clare commented: “Parents using Coo understand the value of helping each other through a trust-based online community. We warmly invite Coo users to register with Classlist and are keen to support them in building their school communities.”
Coo founders Shilpa & Amit; Amit commented: “Our aim was to build something that makes parents’ lives easier, which we have done. This is exactly Classlist’s mission and we believe they can offer our users the benefits of scale, along with a highly advanced and secure infrastructure.” No Coo user data will be transferred to Classlist. All Coo users will be given the opportunity to join Classlist by registering with an existing Classlist school site, or by creating a new school community.
