Classlist, the world’s leading parent engagement app, is now the #1 education technology start-up.
Bett – the world’s leading international Technology in Education Exhibition – has chosen Classlist as 2018 Start-up of the Year.
Bett Award Judges were impressed by how the Classlist platform helps schools to forge strong relationships with their parent body by facilitating communications between the school and parents, and between parents – an area in which schools have historically struggled.
With increasing pressures on school resources, Bett’s Award Judges highlighted Classlist’s unique funding model, which ensures the platform is free to use. Classlist also enables PTAs to develop new funding streams for the school, offsetting pressures on resources and releasing essential funds back in to teaching and learning.
Presented to Co-Founders, Clare Wright and Susan Burton at Bett’s award ceremony on 24th January 2018, the Award signals the growing need for creating safe and secure community networks. Data protection and safeguarding concerns associated with open networking sites have become a paramount concern. Fully GDPR compliant, Classlist enables fully moderated and managed communications.
Founder and CEO, Susan Burton, explains, “Classlist enables parents to build strong, positive and respectful relationships and active communities. The key to our rapid growth is being entirely free and simple to set up. In addition, each Classlist community can generate income for their school through sponsorship from local companies.”
Classlist enables parents to organise class parties, share lifts, find new friends and even exchange unwanted items. Parents can send messages to the whole school parent community, parents in their child’s class or to individual parents.
Launched in 2016, today tens of thousands of parent users actively use Classlist to build thriving local communities. Content is moderated by a Classlist Ambassador, usually the PTA lead or school admin, to ensure communications remain open and inclusive.
Susan adds “We thank all our parent Ambassadors and Classlist parents for their enthusiasm and energy, for their input in to our ongoing product development and for finding so many creative ways to use the app. We provided a platform and they have built the communities. This Award belongs to them.”
